Durgā Sūktam

Align more deeply with the power and strength of the divine feminine through connecting with Goddess Durga.

Durga is most well known as a warrior goddess. She helps us face any difficulty, battling dark forces externally and internally. She is also fiercely compassionate, and is a protector for those who need assistance.  In the Durga Suktam we see her described her as a ship that carries us across the sea of suffering.

In the Vedas, she is likened to Agni, the god of fire, speaking to the power of her will and ability to transform anything we hand her.

Durgā Sūktam is a collection of 8 mantras honoring this aspect of cosmic intelligence so that we can begin to recognize it inside of ourselves.

We can call on Durga for:

Cultivating courage

Facing difficult situation

Moving through grief

Power of transformation

Battling demons

Protection

Schedule:

We'll meet live for class on Sundays 11/15/ 11/22, 12/6 and 12/13. There will make-up classes and time for additional practice and review on Tuesday, 11/17,  12/1 and 12/15.

Recordings will be available the following day if you are unable to attend live.

Intention + Vibration = Healing

Mantra as a regular practice is transformative and can help:

*form a steady habit for self-care

*focus intention

*invite awareness and healing to blocks and resistance

*look into the mind’s eye for clarity

*create refuge for stormy times

Most importantly, when we work with mantra, we are connecting with our core. Our essence is vibration, and it is a powerful practice to meet ourselves here.

The fire of Durgā carries across all difficulties.

Durgā Sūktam draws in the power of Agni to help support us through challenges of every kind. This is beautiful encapsulated in the very first mantra of the sūktam:

To the one who knows of all births, we prepare and offer the Soma;

May he burn up completely the wealth and knowledge of our foes.

May He lead us to happiness overcoming all states of grief;

May Agni carry us as in a boat across a river preventing any wrong-

doing or stumbling (durita).

These practices have supported me in away that feel almost magical. The mantra practice was such a joyful surprise for me. It was my very first time doing mantra work and my first time committing to a 40-day group practice. I felt so supported and so empowered—whether it was that fierce, radiant Durga energy or simply the joy of showing up every day, it helped me realize I am truly unstoppable. Finishing this practice filled me with a sense of strength, happiness, and inner spark that I’m still carrying with me.
